Running for a Reason: Susan Mortensen Turley Foundation

Because training for a marathon takes such a significant amount of time and effort, it is popular for runners to use the experience to raise funds for a favorite worthy cause. Given the events of the past several months for my family, selecting that cause was not difficult.

In December my 25 year old cousin, Susan, passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Susan's story can be found at lemonademakers.blogspot.com.

Susan was particularly passionate about doing what she could to help other young cancer patients afford needed medical treatments. Although Susan is no longer able to work toward this cause in person, a foundation has been established in her name to help this important cause continue on. The Susan Mortensen Turley Foundation is the cause I will be working to support through my marathon training and participation.

In these last few days leading up to the race, I'm going to ask for everyone's help to do what they can to spread the word that I will be running for this cause. Through race day my (typically private) blog will be opened for public view in order to give as many people as possible the information needed to donate.
Susan was a gifted and passionate runner! I in no way am able to match Susan's running abilities, rather my goal is to run the 26.2 miles slowly but surely, and hopefully finish with a smile! Another thing Susan did so well!

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give me for this race. Whether it's showing up to cheer in person, or making a donation to Susan's fund (or even better, both:)), your support genuinely appreciated. Thank you!!!

How to donate to the Susan Mortensen Turley Foundation:
Online- Make a deposit to Wells Fargo account number 2017305018 (this can be done online as well)
By check- Made out to Susan Mortensen Turley Foundation
(Address of where donations can be sent will be posted soon).
Please check in for updates.

Do you have more explicit instructions on how to make a donation to Susan's foundation? I'm a Well's Fargo customer and didn't have any luck when trying to do it online. good luck with the race!

Chris,

I was able to get some more detailed information on how to make an online donation through Wells Fargo. If you email me I'll send it to you- it's a bit long to post instructions on the blog. I'll work on a way to simplify and shorten it if more people have the same problem.

Thanks!!!
